So you have all this Home Theater AV equipment and you are tired of having to control everything with 5 remotes. The wife can't stand the clutter of remotes and the kids just mess everything up. The solution is an advanced Macro capable remote. Macro capabilities allow the user to program a single button to execute many IR commands in succession. Example: Press TV and the TV turns on, AV receiver turns on, satellite box turns on, all inputs and outputs are change to the proper setting, the lights dim, the window treatments close and kids are put into mute mode :) Advanced remote controls are virtually limitless in their flexibility. Basic remote controls may not have macro capability or if they do it is very limited.

Basic universal remote controls are typically preprogrammed with a large variety of MFG codes and all you have to do is select the proper code from a list and enter it into your remote. Basic universal remotes usually have the to learn IR codes as well which can help if your equipment is not in the list of codes. The problem with most of these basic remote controls is that while they have the ability to replace most of the IR remotes in your household they still do not make control easy. Most basic remotes will still require many button presses to get everything set-up properly. Some have macro capability which does allow for one button press operation to control a host of equipment but the macro abilities are very limited. We do not sell basic universal remote controls.

Advanced universal remote controls can control all of your equipment with a single button press. Most advanced universal remote controls are PC or Internet software programmable which aids in set-up dramatically. The difference in advanced remotes universal remotes will be ease of programming and added feature that make control components more flexible.
